Consumer rights question - cleaning company

I was working this morning - DH was in to oversee a cleaning company I'd called in to clean windows and fascia front and back and to do a deep single oven clean, including hob and extractor fan.

DH signed off as work complete and paid by cheque.

Came home to find rubber seal in oven broken, hob and extractor untouched ie work that was paid for not completed.

Phoned company and expecting call back.

If they don't send their chaps round to put these things right - do I stop the cheque (repercussions?); challenge through Checkatrade (where I found them - but have been told it's a bit of a closed shop); or what? Worry that as DH signed without checking the work, we may not have much of a leg to stand on. Thanks for any advice.

I wouldn't think there would be much you could do as your husband signed that the work was done and (I presume) satisfactory.

If I asked someone to clean the oven and they did not clean the hob I would not say that was breach of contract. A hob and extractor are not the oven.
Rubber seal you can buy on line for a few pounds so might not be worth claiming over that. They are easily broken and not always the cleaner's fault to be fair.

Fact he has signed off on it makes it much harder to claim too. Why did he sign to say the hob was cleaned if the job was not cleaned? Does he not have eyes?
