Do the conditions of my employment contract still stand if I'm not paid?

Anyone with employment law knowledge? I suspect this is too specialist but I thought I'd ask before going to see a lawyer.

I've recently left a job and am looking for a new one. My previous employer is struggling and hasn't paid the last couple of months. I understand that this is a breach of contract on their part.

My contract has 'post termination conditions' to do with working for competitors after I leave, getting other people to work for competitors.

Do I still have to abide by those conditions or is the whole contract void as my employers breached it by not paying me? It's possible that they will manage to pay me the money owing.
