They won't stop contacting me!

Hi,

I made a single enquiry to a company that does car finance and has cars for sale. I decided not to pursue it as the choice wasn't that great and the rates too high. This was approximately 18 months ago. Since then i have been bombarded with calls/texts/emails etc. I have called the company at least 15 times over that period and told them to stop it as I'm not interested. Some of the phone advisors have been helpful and promised to take my details of their computers, some who were managers have basically told me they can keep our details.

I have had another call and email this morning and I'm absolutely fed up of it. I have told them i will start charging them for any contact.

Am i allowed to do that and more importantly how do i stop this company from calling/texting or emailing me? Ive emailed them back again today asking to stop and i will NEVER deal with them so its a waste of time

Amy

When their emails come in, don't open them, and click on the "report spam" button. If you click on "unsubscribe" in the text of the email, sometimes it gets worse as they are getting a response.

So far as the calls go, you can simply block them. go to the last time they called you on your calling list, scroll to the right and press "block caller". That will work for texts as well.

If they are UK based then you should have recourse to Ofcom for complaints.

See consumers.ofcom.org.uk/phone/tackling-nuisance-calls-and-messages/protecting-yourself-from-nuisance-calls-and-messages/

I would ignore all emails. Don't even open them.

I'm not sure about the phone calls though, my phone doesn't have the option to block numbers. How about going to your local police station and asking them? Could it be seen as harrassment?

Surely the police have better things to do?! This is annoying but it's not personal.

If you ask someone to stop contacting you and they continue i would say that it could be seen as harrassment. It shouldnt matter whether it is a company or an individual.
