Can an employer do this?

An acquaintance has been suspended from her place of work for the foreseeable whilst they investigate. She is a manager and her place of work is run by a charity.

I don't know the reason for her suspension, but my question is in relation to her son. He is a supervisor at the same place and has been removed from his duties and been given a lesser role. He has been given no explanation oral or written.

Is there anything he can do.

I think they can if there is a risk that the relative could jeopardise the investigation, as long as they continue to pay him as normal. They could run the risk of a constructive dismissal claim, though.

Thanks. I had said the same to her regarding their reasons for his move. She has been told the suspension could potentially be for months not weeks and if this happens he might indeed have a claim as you say.
