very long story short - we've had lots of problems with our neighbours two doors along. starting with the two DDs falling out, their DD accusing me of calling her names (I didn't) and them calling the police on me about it (the police did not believe me and were all 'harrassment' 'harrassment' over a silly child falling out). Neighbours were allowing their dog to foul in our garden as revenge and every time we looked in their direction we got abuse or the finger.
Today, we looked in their direction, they shout insults, we tell them to grow up, next thing we know (after I'd gone inside and unfortunately missed it), the man comes up and swings at DH with a baseball bat. Missing him fortunately. Neighbours friend pulls him off and takes him away.
DH phones police. Police visit neighbour who is p*ssed and having a party with his friends. Neighbour denies it, friends back him up. Police say he has witnesses, you don't. Neighbour says my DH was threatening him. and they are saying if DH wants to pursue it, they'd have to arrest both DH and the neighbour based on statements from both sides amounting to both of them 'breaching the peace'.
DH has no choice but not to pursue it as he's just started a new job and cannot have any charges as it would lead to him losing his job etc.
My DH is 100% innocent, I swear it, but it seems there is nothing we can do.
Sorry if this makes little sense, I'm so upset right now I can hardly think straight.
Can anyone please advise as to what to do? I'd love to move but like I said DH is in a new job, in a probationary period and we don't know if he'll be kept on after the 6 months probationary period.
