Contesting a Will information needed - sad story

A friend made a will years ago when ill leaving all money and property to his girlfriend at the time. When he got better she left him and has had nothing to do with him for 4 years. Unfortunately he was taken ill again and intended to change his will leaving everything to his brother but never got round to it in time. Does anyone know where the family stand on this. Does the original will stand or can it be contested. If so how. Thank you in advance for advice.

i would get the family to see a family law solicitor as this should be relatively straightforward i think.

My DHs Nan had to do this when DGFIL died a few years ago and hadnt updated his will for 10 years leaving a large amount of money to her sister whom they hadnt spoken to mutually for about 8 years. he took ill and died within a very short space of time (5 weeks from diagnosis to passing away-throat and lung cancerSad) and it was the last thing they had on their to do list that they didnt get around to.

so sorry for your lossSad

This is not family law. It is contested probate.
