Can any Lawyers/Barristers here give me some idea of the chances of an unmarried 'father' being granted PR if he was to apply, given the fact that he has a history of violence. The baby is not yet born and he has a non molestation order against him indefinitely after threats to kill the mother and unborn child.

Normally PR applications are granted on the basis that it's important for the dad to have PR if, for example, the child is injured and needs hospital treatment for which only parents with Pr can give consent, and more routinely because it's good if both parents are involved with decisions regarding schooling etc.

In your circumstances, it's likely that the issue of PR will be linked to contact; if he is succesful in a contact application then the court is likely to grant PR at the same time, but given your extreme circumstances, and based only on your six line post (so this may change), I think he would have a struggle to get contact, and certainly won't get anything but supervised contact for a relatively long time.

TBH contact is more of an issue than PR, I would have thought.
