Anyone heard of Jerk.com? The b*****ds

Hi.
I was curiously Googling myself before and came across my name on a website called Jerk.com, which has posted a picture of DS under my 'Jerk profile'. I have obviously never set up such a profile. The photo is from my old facebook account, which I closed down (after deleting everything) a year ago, precisely becasue I didn't like the thought of people being able to see stuff about me. However, even when the account was active, things were only open to my friends (ha!)
Anyway, the website says they'll never remove a listing and there is no way of contacting them.
When I've googled the problem, most of the responses are from the US, using laws that aren't necessarily relevant over here, and even if they were, there's no way to contact the bastards at Jerk.com
I wouldn't mind so much but it's a picture of my (then) three-year-old son, FFS.
Has anyone else come across this?
I feel such a bloody idiot.

There is a tab at the top saying 'remove me' - what happens if you click it?

They tell you they never remove anyone. And there's no way to get in touch to tell them it's a picture of a sodding child....

Read this. That website is breaking US laws by refusing to remove material that you own the copyright to, i.e. the photo of DS.

But I thought if you put a picture on Facebook then you no longer own the copyright?

Publishing photos doesn't remove the copyright, I would have thought that applied whether it's published in a magazine or on a social networking site or wherever.

OP how awful Shock who would have done something like that?

How does it work? Does the website just trawl for photos or does someone have to actively add a photo?

I saw a couple of other photos of kids.

Hi.
I hadn't checked for a while, and saw that more people had replied and just wanted to say thanks! A bit late (from me), but never mind. Nocake, I read that when I first found the thing, but there is literally no way to get in touch with them, but thanks anyway.
DH has managed to calm me down, from what he's found out, the site keeps getting closed down precisely because its breaking all sorts of copyright laws, so I've just decided to leave it. Luckily, I've kept my maiden name, so most people assume my surname is the same as DS's, meaning there's little chance his friends' parents will find it.
Lesson learned though!
Thanks again

May I ask what is so concerning about this for you, given that you'd already posted your DS's photo?

(sorry- I have no idea what jerk is)

I'd posted my son's photo on Facebook (an account I closed a year ago) for friends and family ONLY to see. I did not expect it to be posted for anyone on the internet to see should they happen to look me up, on a website for 'naming and shaming' jerks

That's creepy. I so hope fb is dead before my DCs want to use it. Sorry OP but posting something on the 'internet' for 'friends and family only' to see sounds a bit naive. Once you post stuff it is out there and you can't track it.

That sounds horrible Sad

Do yuo think it must have been done by someone in your F&F circle then?
