Just had an hideous experience at the county court, my local authority have being making mistakes regarding my entitlement for HB for...... 16 YEARS leaving me with a debt on my rent account amounting to £6000. I have appealed through the local hb/ctx service but to no avail the last appeal took 2 years to process. It has been clear over the years that there have been significant delays in processing my claim. But i have come to the realisation that the borough has keep me having to pay the money order although i have been paying from my meagre income there seems to be a correlation between the fact that i am carer for a child with Profound learning difficulties and him coming of adulthood. Sound bizarre i know but it does not explain the irrational decisions made by subsequent judges. I am looking for a Barrister to help me fight this case i have been collecting evidence but the borough has fought to keep the issue in borough PLEASE HELP IT IS URGENT

That sounds very complicated. Housing Benefit can normally only be backdated for 3 months (6 in exceptional circumstances). At risk of stating the obvious have you spoken to Shelter? They are very helpful.

under the pre court action protocol the LA shouldn't take you to court for sums outstanding to to HB.
