What will happen if my husband doesn't respond to the letters my solicitor is sending him about our divorce?

Can he hold it all up indefinitely by doing this?

I know I should ask my solicitor, but that will cost me another £50. Help!

Thank you.

No he can't hold off indefinitely. You can petition for divorce and he is required to acknowledge the service of the papers. If he doesn't do this they can be served again by a service processor. When there is evidence the papers were served successfully and you can ask the court to grant the divorce anyway. As far as the finances are concerned you can apply to court for a financial order and he is then required to attend court and complete a full disclosure.

As above, my ex did this and I still eventually got my divorce - it just takes longer. Oh, get your solicitor to ask that he pay the costs.
