Can anyone recommand a good, ethical family lawyer here in the UK whom you have used yourself and who is not into squeezing the last penny out of your pocket?

Many thanks....

which area? Or are you beyond caring about the area and just want the right person?

no matter how good they are, they need to be relatively close to you so it is easy to get and see them.
If you are looking for someone in Surrey or Sussex I could recommend someone.

I live in London, but I get the impression that

  1. they are all overpriced
  2. most of them try to suck you dry....

Well, I haven't met that many of them, but given my recently rather bad experience with mediation (and these guys are supposed to be a non-profit organisation) I would imagine that the average London lawyer is not much better (unless you can just throw around with money, which is not my case).

As we do not really have serious battle ground for a long Court battle with my ex, I thought a lawyer a little bit further out (Surrey or Sussex could be fine) would be a good solution.

I mainly need to find a way to protect my new family (recently got remarried and have a new baby on the way) from an invasive ex husband who has a different understanding of the word "privacy" than we have (basically he does not seem to know what privacy actually means... and I am a VERY private person).

Many thanks for any tip.

was a family lawyer for many years.
try Family Law in Partnership (based in Covent Garden). They offer a collaborative law approach as well as a conventional litigious approach. google them for details. I didnt work for them (worked as a barrister) but they are good. Don't know about cost but you can spend a lot of money on protracted mediocre legal advice... so what seems expensive, may if really good, be good value....

I can give you details of a good firm in Devon which will no doubt be much cheaper than london, and very ethical and caring. but it is probably too far for you.....pm me if you want more info.
