Delay in police taking statement

In March I was cycling and hit someone who stepped out of a car in front of me (this happened outside the train station). I wasn't hurt and she didn't appear at the time to be hurt so I thought nothing more about it. This morning a transport policeman approach me to arrange to interview me about the incident.

Firstly, I'm concerned about the delay. My memory of the incident is hazy, as you would expect after two months, so should the police have contacted me sooner?

Secondly, the car had stopped in the middle of the road that has double yellow lines on it. I cycled up the left hand side of the car (as it was in the middle of the road) and the lady stepped out of the passenger side without looking behind her. Before I talk to the police can anyone tell me where I stand? I know I probably shouldn't have cycled on the left of the car but the car was stopped illegally and the lady stepped out without looking.

Thanks Smile

If the passenger had stepped of the other side and you had hit her it would be all her fault.
As the car had stopped nearer to the white line you maybe assumed the car was turning right and undertook (perfectly legal where a car is right turning) - not an unreasonable assumption given the space you had and the fact that there were 2 yellow lines.
If you were undertaking you would be on stickier ground.

After all this time I would say you thought they were turning right a) because their driving (and parking) was appalling and b) why should you pay for other peoples stupidity and c) why should you be expected to mind read for idiot drivers and d) its probably some insurance scam saying she was injured when she wasn't and e) people like you and me pay through the nose for fake insurance claims.

Heavens I am in a bad mood!
