In March I was cycling and hit someone who stepped out of a car in front of me (this happened outside the train station). I wasn't hurt and she didn't appear at the time to be hurt so I thought nothing more about it. This morning a transport policeman approach me to arrange to interview me about the incident.
Firstly, I'm concerned about the delay. My memory of the incident is hazy, as you would expect after two months, so should the police have contacted me sooner?
Secondly, the car had stopped in the middle of the road that has double yellow lines on it. I cycled up the left hand side of the car (as it was in the middle of the road) and the lady stepped out of the passenger side without looking behind her. Before I talk to the police can anyone tell me where I stand? I know I probably shouldn't have cycled on the left of the car but the car was stopped illegally and the lady stepped out without looking.
Thanks
