time limit of insurance claims?

I made a claim on an insurance policy (landlord insurance) in late 2007. I just realised they never paid out, having done the initial processing no problem. I am planning to get in touch to ask them to pay out. What are my chances? Thanks.

Providing you submitted the claim within a reasonable period of time after the incident and can provide your claim reference, you should be fine. Some claims take years to finalise.

The only difficulty you might have is if the claims department has moved or been outsourced - then they might have some trouble tracing your file.

But give it a go. There's no time restrictions for how long a claim can stay outstanding, only the length of time to report the claim in the first place.

That's great, thanks.
