DH and I are having a bit of a dilemma at the moment and your advice and any thoughts would be gratefully received. We have decided to go for dc3, we have 2 ds aged 7 and 3. I am currently in a job that I am not enjoying but the pay is ok. We have been saving for the past year so that I can do a 3 year course and retrain. The problem is that although it is something that I want to do it would mean being away for 26 weekends out of the year for 3 years. Also the extra work to do out of university etc.

Our dilemma is do we have a dc3 now and delay the course or even forget about it completely and use the money to do stuff around the house (we are currently renovating a house so the money would be very useful), or start the course and have a year out in the middle to have dc3. We don't want to leave it for much longer than a year due to the age gap with other children and also dh's age, he is 10 years older than me. What do you think??

What do you want more? It's a hard question but that's ultimately your answer. Whatever you decided to do you'll need to re - organise your family and make no mistake it will be hard work but if it's what you want it's always worthwhile.

Thank you for your replies. Zola that is the problem really I don't know what I want more. I know that only I can make that decision but everytime I think OK I've decided and will go for the course or the baby 1st I immediately change my mind . It's like dh said I want them both so much, that's why it's so hard.

I was in the same dilemma before I had ds3. I had started my PGCE but still wanted another baby. Everyone said do the course first then have another child afterwards so I did. But I knew deep down that once I'd revived my career I'm not sure I would want to stop again so I stopped the course. I've decided that I'm going to do the family thing now and then once the youngest is at school go back into it. I hope I do anyway.
I hope this helps.
