Am falling in love with ds3 (7 weeks) at the moment. We always wanted four so I am relaxed about still wanting more. However, every time I reach the end of a pregnancy I start longing for the next one (I have easy pregnancies!).
Will this ever go away? We will stop at 4 but I'm worried I will always want more...

If there were no financial or social restrictions how many would you have?

i guess it doesn't go away for some, but i'm sure as hell glad it has for me!

i am in so much pain and misery this pregnancy and my moods are so bad now i wish i could be immediately sterilised after this one is born.

Oh... at the easy pregnancies!

If it wasn't for the pregnancies I would have about 4 I think. I already have two and am getting old...

Hopefully we will have 2, if there were no financial or social restrictions we would have 3 or 4. I'm always when I hear of people with 8 or 9 that does not appeal to me at all!

I did used to think there was no stop button but have been delighted to find there is.

It has taken being pregnant with dc 7 to get here though.

Like Expat i am up for sterilisation after this one!

I am teetering over having a 5th right now. I was thinking about it in the shower this morning actually. I'm worried that I want another baby for me. That I want a newborn again. I love them all no matter what age they are and I am madly in love with DD3 now that she's walking about and taking on her own personality. But I wonder what a 5th child would add to our family, apart from fulfilling a need within me.

I have 3 (16, 14.5 & 6) and I'm pretty sure that's it for me. Financially we could have more, but I don't feel the need.

The 2 eldest are actually my step-children (we have them 60% of the time and have done since they were 6 & 8), so I have only got the one child who is biologically mine.

Since DD was born (Aug 02) I've been through stages of being horribly broody and sad to being ok with no more children. DH would have another if I wanted to, but is also very happy as we are. I just don't feel that broodiness anymore, babies are lovely and all but I'm really enjoying my family as it is. We have more independence and our social and work life is great. Having a baby would compromise that, as selfish as it seems, and so I'm quite happy to put a lid on it.

However, that said I would never be sterilised as I'm a bit of a 'never say never' person (although, perhaps if I had 7 I would be considering it seriously! ).

I betcha would Nom

I am having this last baby for the other children and dh. I do love them all but would quite happily have stopped with #6. They are all SO excited and dd is positively walking on air at the thought of a sister finally!

It was a relief to find i did actually have a stop button after all these years. The terrible longing for a baby is so all consuming.

NP you can borrow any of them anytime, will happily post to Scotland, i accept handbags and shoes as payment

Nom you have a 16 year old! I am so looking forward to the teenage years, really i am.

Am due 12th Jan, but mine are late, well mostly late. DD was the only one who behaved arriving the day before her due date!

When i come up in March she will probably only be about 7-8 weeks! You can keep her for the weekend

We decided DH should have the snip only 4 months after we had dd2 (we have 4 dc)

It is only since dd2 stopped bfing a month ago that i realised it was far too soon to have done something so stupd.

Don't get me wrong,i love my dc and i am v lucky to have them. If i won the lottery we wold get the vasectomy reversed and have more!!

I have 2dd's (nearly 4 and 2) and am 27 weeks with ds1. I would love to have another - and could afford it - BUT I am 41 and so feel I am too old. DP is going to see "Billy 2 bricks" as quite frankly I don't think I could trust myself!

All my pregnancies have been generally O.K - now the births are a different matter! [wink}

I always wonder if the urge ever goes. I really hope it does. Im going to ttc for number 3 at the end of the year(which is scarily close now!) and i really hope i dont want any more after that! I used to think when i was younger that id like four and maybe if i were 5 yrs younger and i could afford to cut my hours at work id go for 4. Its not going to happen though, but id never, ever get sterilised or get my dp to have a vascetomy, never. I couldnt do anything so final.

LGAT, yes. 2 teenaged boys, 18mo apart. They are a farking nightmare together. All they do is fight. However they both love their little sister obsessively (the feeling is wholly mutual) and never argue or get pissed off with her.

The teen years have been a bit hit and miss so far. When they are good, they are fab but when the hormones etc are flying (99.99999999% of the time), they are HIDEOUS.
