Hi, I have an 8 year old wee boy who went to live with his grandparents young as I was ill and not in good place. As he settled there every1 thought it would be best to remain living there & he is happy. I now have a wee girl 20 months, they love spending timwe with each other. But in some ways it is like she is an only child. I was an only child and hated it & never wanted my 1st to be an only child for that reason. He knows and understands why he and his sister live apart and knows when he is a bit older if he makes the decision to live with us he will be very very welcome. Basically my question is this. I've only ever coped looking after one child full time or when not at work, college ect. I would love a baby brother or sister for them but I am often shattered coping with one very willfull, to say the least, toddler. Any advice could I cope with a new addidion even in a years time, or is it a nice but unrealistic dream?

I would not have another in your situation. Lots of people make a good job out of having only children. Nothing wrong with it.

When you say live with 'us' do you mean you and his sister, or do you live with your DD's father as well?

Because if not, I think it would be a very bad idea indeed to have another child. If you have a relapse who is going to look after those children?
