Looking for some advice really, not sure if i have posted in the rite place but here goes.

We have been looking for a 3 bed house to rent in a local large village, we are desperate to move due to over crowding but no properties have become available in the few months we have been looking. There are several properties for sale in the area but we can't get a morgage for a 3 bed house (or even a 1 bed).

We really want to move before September so we can start the dd's at the village school (rather then changing schools in the middle of the year).

My dad mentioned (well with a few hints from me) his partner buying a house and renting it out to us, which would be perfect as we could have some say in where the house is but i don't think dad has even asked her. I feel its a bit much to ask of someone who is not in any way related (although i have known her all my life). I don't really feel i could ask her to buy a house for 200,000 to help us out unless it was going to benifit her in some way.

Would her buying a property now be a good investment for her, taking into account she will be getting rent from us for as long as she wants us to stay in the house. Would she be out of pocket when she comes to sell it? (if she wanted to sell it) or are house prices likely to fall and she will loose out?

There is no guarantee properties will rise in price in the future, especially when the market is unpredictable. However, most people will advise buying property is a good investment in the longterm.

It might help to look at prices of properties sold over the last five years in the area of your choice, to see if there has been a steady rise or fall in prices

Have a look at this you will need to register to check out postcodes.
