Hi,
We are in the process of applying for our first mortgage.
We have had an offer in principle and put in an offer on our future home. We are using a mortgage broker and have begun the process of the mortgage application, we had a call from brokers assistant saying Abbey have some questions over returned direct debits on my personal bank statement.
It was a silly mistake on my part. I had asked for dates of bills to be changed so they didnt come through in the 2 days before payday, it was agreed and then didnt happen (it will happen next month, apparently) it took me by surprise and the DD's were returned to the bank. I have arranged payment with the outstanding bills and it very rarely ever happens (and you can see that on my 3 month statements I have sent in) but I am really really worried that this will put a spanner in the works and we will lose our future home because of it.
Any advise or insight into what will happen?

Not an expert but are you able to tell Abbey what you've just written here? Maybe offer to provide statements going further back? Sounds like a perfectly reasonable request you made and a typical mix up by your bank
Hope common sense prevails for you!

Tell them in writing. My daughter missed a mortgage repayment by mistake and she was told by the lender that as she then paid it 2 days late when they told her plus their £12 late charge it would NOT go on her credit record.
