If anyone does these can they answer the following:

How do you decide which funds to invest in - so many funds are out there.
Where do you do your research, internet?, magazine subscription? website subscription. There is so much info out there, you can't read it all.
How do you decide which sectors you want to invest in? Uk, Asia, emerging markets, gold, mining???
Do you look the fund managers or the sector. Ie, would you follow a good fund manager, or a good sector?
What criteria do you use to balance your portfolio?

TIA.

No expert but I check out //www.hl.co.uk home page as they have regular articles on investment ideas. Cross check any funds your considering with the fund expert website.
Hope someone with more experience comes along soon and answers some of your Questions.

I looked at the quiz on Standard Life to find out my attitude to risk. Then picked their MyFolio fund that matched it so they can do the hard work. Simples. Smile
