How do I choose a good ethical fund?

I want to put some money, about 2k, into an ethical stocks and shares fund for dd 2 and then never look at it again. She's 18 months and it still hasn't happened as I get too bewildered by the choices.

How do I compare ethical funds? I looked at Trustnet and it confused me mightily. I just want to look at simple things like performance and top 10 holdings across the sector, I can figure out th ethical bit alone but not performance.

Help?

Hi, we have a Junior ISA for our toddler which has £50 per month invested in it.

We set it up via Cavendish online and it is a Fidelity Junior ISA.

If you do a funds search on the funds supermarket part of the Fidelity website there is a tick box (it might be an advanced search) where you can tick ethical funds so it only shows you those and it has fund factsheets etc.

The fund we chose is the Kames Ethical Cautious Managed Accumulation fund (AEECA)

Personally I had read that this one was regarded as quite 'dark green' and strict about the ethical criteria and did reasonably well in the top tables.

I think you can do a lump sum and opt for 'phasing' so that your lump sum is divided in six and is invested over six months rather than in one go.

This article is about the best ethical funds:
