Fertility treatment in Czech Republic?

After one failed fresh cycle and one failed FET - both with excellent quality blastocysts, we're thinking through our options. Our clinic is very good, but doesn't offer PGS or NK cell screening and, at 41, I think I'd like to do that if we're going to put ourselves through the mill again.

We live within striking distance of London, so there are clinics there that offer the screening we'd like, but the cost of our treatment would probably almost double, so we're considering whether we should go overseas.

I found a couple of clinics in the Czech Republic that offer IVF plus screening for about the same price as a straightforward IVF in the UK and just wondered if anyone has any experience - good or bad - of doing this? The clinics I was looking at are GEST Praga Medica and Gynem.

I'm interested in hearing anything about the nuts and bolts of doing IVF overseas as well - how do the appointments work - how long do you need to spend there in practice - how you organise the drugs etc.,

Hi

I'm having my treatment in Poland as it's cheaper and they offer far more services over there. I'm using an egg donor so my treatment is different to what you are looking at. I went over for an appointment where they did blood and semen tests and I had some scans. I was prescribed my meds which were really cheap from the Polish chemist. I only have to go back one more time and thats for egg transfer but I do need to have scans over here to measure the womb lining.

I think if your work commitments are manageable and you can be free to travel readily it's a really good option.

The clinic I am using has a visit schedule on line to give you some idea of timescales, it might be helpful //www.invitro24.co.uk

Thanks, Suzy, that's really helpful - I'll look into Poland as well. We may yet consider DE...I guess it depends on how the PGS looks.

How does it work with scans here? Do they have an affiliation with a clinic or do you have to arrange your own? And is there a fall-back option if something goes wrong with the meds? How would you get replacements, for example? I've seen a couple of panickly threads on here with women running out of drugs or having their bag go missing at the airport and that worries me a bit!

Good luck with your ET.

I have had problems finding a private clinic that will do my scans, some just won't do it unless your having your treatment with them.

To be honest as much as I prefer this website, fertility friends have a huge amount of people going abroad and you can find out anything there Smile

I'm on Fertility Friends too, but lots of the threads seem to be years old and I find it really hard to navigate. Also, not a fan of the tickertape signature blocks!

We had our debrief with our consultant yesterday morning and he had lots of ideas, so we're going to try one more cycle here...and then maybe we'll have the conversation again about going overseas for one more whirl of the roulette wheel...
