Short protocol, second attempt.
First attempt failed (miserably)

Anyone want to join me? It's a pretty lonely thing to go through I find.

I am starting again after my next period, long protocol as we got four eggs which all fertilised but miscarried twins at eight weeks. Have a follow up appointment on 17th but don't think they will change anything.

Don'tMake why do you say you failed miserably? Sometimes they learn so much from a failed cycle, so they know how to do it better next time.

I'm 38 with low amh so running out of time but I have already had two kids by ICSI so I have been blessed but no less desperate this time. I told too many people last time so going to avoid telling anyone and I can see that's going be lonely.

best of luck to you

Hi ladies

I lost my first IVF baby in February at 21 weeks. I was utterly heartbroken.

Last week I had an embryo transfer and will find out on Friday if we are pregnant again. Going insane!

I have a blog about everything which you may want to check out: wwww.wakeupsurvivesleep.com

Wishing you all good luck, positive thoughts and happy endings xx

Good luck to both of you x x x DRS that's terrible, wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy soon x x

I am on day 4 of menopur and feel exhausted. Last time I felt fine but have started out on 225iu rather than 150iu. I got 9 eggs last time, 8 fertilised but only 5 were still going by day 3. And they were slow - 2 six cells and 3 four cells. No fragmentation but slow. 2 went back (the 6 cells) but the others conked out and didn't make it to blastocyst so had little hope for the returned ones.
My eggs were hard as well - they had to do assisted hatching. I am only 31 so was slightly upset by this.

We knew we had extreme mfi but it looks like I'm not shipshape either. Originally they gave us odds of about 30% but that's way down now.
We are having one more go and then I think we will have to accept that's it. It's ruining our lives.

I am starting injections on day 2 of my next cycle. I started estrogen on day 20 of this cycle. Today is CD28 and I am just waiting for my period to arrive... stressing I have mucked things up as I took progesterone after ovulation for my usually short 24 day cycle so the estrogen would have time to take effect. But today is CD28 and it's never this long. This is my 7th IVF attempt!

I am a poor responder so it's nice to be in with others on here who seem to be in the same boat. Vegas, can I ask what happened your first IVF cycle?

Shoe, I can only imagine the devastation to lose your babies at 8 weeks. But you give me some hope. Only 4 eggs, but 2 implanted.

Butterflies, I could only dream of getting 9 eggs. Have you changed your diet since last IVF? I read that high protein/low carb for 3 months in lead up increases number of embryos that make it to bast stage to a whopping 50%... even in women who previously had poor embryo quality. I will be lucky to get 4 / 5 eggs so I did this diet in the hope that this time it's quality over quantity.

Hi Steph, I know how you feel. I just had egg collection yesterday for my second cycle of IVF. It was so much harder the first time with not knowing what to expect- it does get easier! What made a difference for me this time round was having in depth conversations with the doctors and nurses about my anxiety level and pain relief as the first egg collection did not go so well. If you're really scared then tell them and ask what the options are. I had temazepam as well as sedation yesterday and it was so much better. DH and I also learnt that because some of the injection stuff is quite fiddley, it went better if he prepared it cos I was too shaky to do it myself (I'm not great with needles etc). Don't know why I thought I had to do everything myself initially (control freak?) but then realised that we're in this together so it's fine for him to help. His other job is parking the car so I don't have to stress about it ;) as parking is a nightmare at our clinic. There's not a lot he can practically do to help so make the most of the things he can! I've gotta admit he's being my personal slave today :)

Dontmakemecometovegas where are you up to in your IVF? It does feel lonely, hence me being on mumsnet today! Hugs :)

Hi all I am on my first cycle. Long protocol day 7 of menopur. Went for a scan this morning and have 5 follicles on the left and less on the right, although they couldn't be sure how many as visibility of the right ovary wasn't great due to its position "tucked up behind my uterus"! I have one follicle at 10mm -12mm and the others are less. I have to be honest and say I am a little disappointed. I was hoping that things would have been more positive! I realise that this isn't bad news just hoped it would be better!!

On a more positive note my clinic like to see womb lining at 8mm thick and mine is already 10mm hopefully this gives a really good chance of implantation!

I am feeling pretty overwhelmed today. I don't know why I feel disappointed after the scan results, cause I was reassured in clinic that I really am exactly where they would expect at this stage of treatment! I guess I just hoped I would be doing brilliantly!!

Hate not feeling in control and not knowing exactly when things are going to happen!

Is anyone else on menopur suffering with side effects? I am feeling really really tired, despite getting loads of good quality sleep. I am also feeling very fat around my middle! Not sure if that's in my head but my tummy feels bloated!

Good luck, to everyone. It will be nice to be able to share stories and experiences with people in a similar position / stage of their treatment! Xxx

Ugh its so stressful and consuming. But i found that the IVF beats waiting to start the process. At least you are all progressing. Really hope it all goes well for you all.

Steph don't be scared. You will be guided through the process and will be in safe hands. In a way its exciting as you have a chance to get your happy ending.

Good luck ladies xxx

Hi WelshWonder, I haven't done the long protocol/ used menopur but I would not be surprised if you're feeling bloated given that your follicles are behaving as they should- I am really bloated and uncomfortable, can't fit regular size meals in as it feels like there's no room. It was the same on my last cycle too and lasted for a while after egg collection but did go away in the end :)

And I know just what you mean about hating not being in control of when things happen, sometimes it's upsetting and at others it's just bloody inconvenient!!

xx

Hi Knittingninja

Hope all went well with EC and transfer?

I think you are right about the bloating being down to follicles! Went for a second scan on a Friday and had 10 plus follicles all doing really well and growing! My egg collection is scheduled for 9.30 Monday morning! Very exciting times ahead!

Xx

Hi WelshWonder yeah my EC and transfer both went very smoothly, thanks. Not very hopeful about the outcome as none of the other embryos made it to 5 days, but still glad it's all out the way!

Glad to hear the follicles are doing well, will be keeping my fingers crossed for you xx
