Infertility

What happens next? What do I need to ask?

Hi everyone.

I have finally gotten our appointment through to see the consultant at our fertility clinic in three weeks time.

We have been under the clinic since April and in that time have only seen the senior nurse whilst they've been getting my tests done.

I have had: Day "21" bloods including Rubella & AMH, two transvaginal ultrasounds (think thats the right terminology), and the HSG.
DH has done 2 SAs

All my tests seem to have come back ok so far, although we won't get full details of the HSG results until the appointment.
DH has good count but low morphology and motility.

Getting to the point, (!) I'd like to hear a few experiences from other people when they first saw the consultant at the stage we are now at so I can prepare myself and make sure I'm ready with any questions I should ask. I don't want to get in there to any surprises and wish I'd been more prepared for it all!

Thanks in advance for your help. I don't know what I'd do without all the lovely people on here for support.

Hmmm I wonder why no one has replied to this thread lil? I've been checking back every day as obviously it will be me in a few weeks/months too. I'll bump it back to the top ;-) x

I have been dealing with an NHS fertility clinic since Feb last year. We have only recently had our first appointment with the doctor. Previous appointments were with nurses.

DH has a high count on both samples the first a low motility but the second was fine. I have extremely irregular periods and they suspect I do not ovulate the majority of the time. So I have been put on Clomid.
Just back from my second scan, my first was on day 10 and today's was on day 12. I will get another on Monday to hopefully confirm ovulation, and I am hoping that my lining has thickened. (Anyone know what can be done if it doesn't)

Hope that helps Confused

My GP wouldn't even refer us until we had had every test under the sun! She said the clinic would just send us away if we hadn't had the necessary bloods within a very precise timescale. Eg. She said I needed my day 21's within 3 months of referral date, if it was longer then I would need them repeated again and couldn't go to the clinic! However when I mentioned all of this to the practice manager GP dude he said that wasn't the case,we had a diagnosis from the tests we had already and referred us straight away! I'm glad I kicked up a fuss to see someone else, I knew my rights! and read every guideline on the net!

victoria401 that's terrible that you had to kick that much fuss at your gp. I explained to my gp about how long we had been trying and she referred us and also got me and DH booked in for tests and scans. Yes we waited what felt like an age to actually be seen in the hospital but at least the ball was rolling.

thanks Vic Grin

hi pickle, I've had ov confirmed by bloods and my temp always rises so I'm pretty sure I'm fine. hope your next results all come back good.

this whole bloody thing is just a waiting game with no info ever available from the NHS/clinics about what to expect!
