We've been trying for 6 months. We have a 3 yo. I've been to see my GP, based on the NHS "if you're over 35 after 6 months" advice. She said that if we were looking for a referral on the NHS we would have to be trying for 12 months, but we're happy to pay for stuff ourselves, so she ordered a load of blood tests. The results of those were all "normal". If anyone knows anything about them they were TSH 2.5, T4 15.1, 7 day LH 7.4 and 7 day FSH 8.5 (she said anything between day 2 and 7 was ok, rather than insisting on day 3), glucose 4.7, FBC all within reference ranges, day 21 progesterone 33.
So now I'm not sure whether we should go back to ask for a semen analysis and referral or to just give it a bit longer. I am aware that the gap between DD and any sibling is growing as each month passes, though obviously we left quite a big gap before even trying.
We aren't desperate to have DC2 - it's a nice to have, but I'm not convinced that we would want to go very far into the realms of fertility treatment, but I don't think we want to spend years trying if there is actually a problem that isn't easily resolved.
Any advice?
