post laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Is this something to worry about?

I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy on Monday at St Marys. I took ages to come round from the gas and morphine and when I did I was sick. I was the last to leave the ward and was violently sick several times on the way home. I didn't have a bowel movement from the Sunday before to Thursday and unsurprisingly it was painful when I did go. I have bouts of piles from time to time and have done since my first pregnancy but it's bright red blood when that happens. This morning though I woke up early with back pain and when I had a small painful bowel movement there was dark red blood on the tissue when I wiped. Yesterday I wasn't sure if the blood was just coming from the front but I've stopped bleeding vaginally now so it's not that. The phone number they gave me is (as always) just Monday -Friday. My Uncle died from bowel cancer just before Christmas and that was no more than 6 months from diagnosis so I'm understandably frightened by the dark red colour. I will go straight to my GP Monday if it's still happening but was hoping someone would have experience of this. I've gone through the aftercare sheet but there's nothing about anal bleeding. They gave me 8 weeks of antibiotics for a bladder infection but the leaflet of those say could cause diarrhoea not constipation.

My MIL had this procedure last year and she too spoke of rectal bleeding with bowel movements, but this was bright red and very light. Everything we found online back then suggested this was normal, but as yours is dark red, I would suggest calling or visiting A&E as it could be indicative of a serious complication.
I myself have only had a LAP done and got rectal bleeding like you and it turned out I had picked up a post-op infection which resulted in tons of ahedsions forming.
I wish you luck that everything in your situation turns out okay!

I would call St Marys on Monday as they actually did the procedure, they may well need to see you again.
