I am not starting IVF now so I am probably not who you are looking for but I couldn't read and run when no one else has replied to you!

I have just had a failed IVF cycle and will be starting IVF again soon at a new clinic. I have an appointment there on 7th Jan. So I won't be starting IVF straight away but would love to listen to how it all goes for you and be your chum as I have been through it and know how nice it is to have someone to confide in and vent to through out the process.

Have you done IVF before or is this your first round?

I just looked at an old thread I started when I was doing my last IVF and noticed you posted there. But I started that over a month ago and everyone chatting was doing IVF at around the same time so all the girls there have wound up their IVF (and all got a BFP but me!) so I hope others find your thread here and support you. Either way - I'm here to listen :)

No news at my end until I have my first appointment with my new clinic on 7th Jan. My old clinic was cheaper but I can now see why. One of the many reasons is that they did not do ultrasound guided embryo transfer. The girls who got the BFP on the other thread seemed to have this, and my new clinic offers this so I am going to ask my new doc if he thinks this is important for IVF success. I am hoping this is the reason my last IVF failed despite having a great embryo and that my next IVF finally works!

So have you had any diagnosed fertility issues that have led you to the path of IVF? Have you started yet?

Thanks Shell, doesn't look like anybody is crazy enough to start at Christmas like me lol

During investigations it appears I have PCO (luckily not the syndrome), had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy in October and doctor cleared some endo and removed my ovary from where it was stuck?!? Main issue is hubby's low sperm count Sad I think that is why we are having ICSI.

Going to ring the nurse today as I think I count today as day one and start jabbing tomorrow.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Smile FX for a successful next attempt!

I start early Feb so not going to be much of a buddy but me and Shellster can be here if you need a rant.

Hope you have a nice BFP by the time I start.

I'm sitting outside my clinic now waiting for the rain to subside so I can go for bloods.

Hello! I am starting my first cycle of IVF on January 2nd. All of my drugs arrived today and I should start sniffing the nefarelin on the 2nd. So I'm a little bit behind you.
Did you have nafarelin? If so did you have any side effects? It's all a bit strange and I'm not sure what to expect but I'm relieved and excited to be taking this first step after so long waiting and worrying. Good luck with the jabbing! X

Hi wishing

No sniffing for me, only injections! I'm on short protocol.

It is all scary but like you said after all the worrying and waiting it finally feels like we're getting somewhere Smile

Hi girls, I'm with you. Today was day 3 of down reg injections (no sniffing). Scan on 13th to see how things are and if I can start stimming. 1st round after 4.5 yes trying. We're unexplained so crossing everything that this works... Shell, I think it's guided transfer where we are. Wishing, I'm just a few days ahead of you.

Doodledoo, I am changing clinics and my new clinic has guided transfer too. Hoping this makes the difference. Also have very light cycle and have read statistics showing the thinner the lining, the lower the IVF success rate. Am going to speak to doc at new clinic about vaginal viagra supps which have shown to help thicken lining and hope this makes the difference too. Just want to share this in case it helps others who read.

Can I ask Doodledoo, do you start down reg injections at start of a cycle? And then you will just start stimming mid way through a cycle if scan is okay? Just curious how that protocol works?

How did you first injection go Bunnygirlie? They really don't hurt but still it's a bit scary! And then when do you next go to the clinic for a review? Good luck!

Happy new year! Let's hope it's a good one for us all :-) I down reg day 21. Should get a period at some stage (7-10 days I after starting injections think). Scan is to check if I'm ready to start stimming. Got a bit stressed over first injection but wanted to do it myself. They are fine really. Not want anyone would choose to do, but could be worse.
Interesting about the viagra supps! Hopefully someone will listen to you!

Hi Bunny - starting SP on 6th Jan (on pill so pretty sure of the start date.) I have a scratch on Friday.

My second SP. First was Nov/Dec. Stimmed for 3 weeks as the were overcautious as I have PCOs too. Starting straight on 300iu of Gonal F this time. Going again so soon as we are building up embryo numbers to have PGS. MY lining started to deteriorate last time so even if we had the numbers a fresh transfer would have been out. They are hoping a shorter stim will help.

On a whole host of other stuff too - progynova and patches (and possibly viagra) for my lining. Gonal F adding Menopur and Centrotide towards the end. Clexane and Folic Acid 5mg (I have the mutated MTHFR gene). So pincushion time!

Interesting that your doctor is possibly prescribing Viagra for your lining Vallinnapod. I have a thin lining and want to ask my doctor about this at my appointment next week and am hoping he will listen. Want to trial it on my next natural cycle before I spend thousands on IVF the following cycle. Will be interested to hear if it helps your lining. Keep me posted!

Oops that sent before I meant it to! Damn phone! I meant to say that I have an appointment tomorrow to explain all and start on the spray but from what I can make out my short protocol is as follows:

Day 20 downregging nasal spray
Day 1-9 stim injections
Day 9 scan to assess ovaries continue with stim injections if needed otherwise
Day 10 injection to make ovaries release eggs
36 hours later egg retrieval
3-5 days later put the fertilised egg back
There are also progesterone pessaries which I need to use to help any potential pregnancy (not entirely sure when I start taking these as of yet)

Is this similar to everyone else? I'm going to check tomorrow about guided transfer. Hope you are all doing okay! X

wishing if you are down regging that is long protocol. Short is basically the same with no down regging.

I get centrotide and menopur added when I am 5 days off collection to prevent early ovulation. My past two stims have been 25 odd days Wink

Just had my scratch which was fine. More the apprehension of it than anything else!

Hello all!

I just wanted to drop in to say best of luck to all of you. I cycled with shell last month (4th round) and was lucky enough to get a BFP, although as I have previously miscarried, I am very nervous now! I hate every second of the IVF process, but it is the only thing that has ever got me pregnant, so I keep going. It is a tough road though, with a lot of physical and emotional ups and downs.

I know some of you are already posting there, but for those of you that are not, there is an egg buddies thread over in Conception for people doing IVF. Conception seems to get a fair bit more traffic than this board, so you might be able to find a cycle buddy over there, if you want one.
