Hi Blondeshavemorefun, I had a hysterosalpingogram done earlier this year which is the same as your dye test and it was fine. I had done the worse thing you can do and googled it the week before and read some horror stories. I don't have a particulalry high pain threshold but it is basically the same as a smear not painful but uncomfortable and when they put the dye in you can feel it which causes a bit of cramping, your glad when that is over. It lasts about 5 minutes or so and then thats it, she/he can tell you straight away if it has flowed out of your tubes ok and that they are not blocked. You then go back to the ward, take two antibiotics so there is no infection, get dresses and go home. I felt a bit wobbly afterwards I think its the dye but nothing a hot sweet cup of tea didn't sort out! Good luck! :) x

I had the same set of procedures a year ago at the same time as a cystectomy. I was in overnight but not everyone is.
The keyhole cuts are really small and mine healed quickly. You'll be sore from the gas they use to inflate the abdominal cavity and from the instruments where they have a good look around inside. The gas dissolves out over a week ish and was painful in my chest/shoulders when I moved as it rises.

Get a lift home. I thought I'd get a taxi, but I was too stiff and tired. I was wiped out by the effects of the anaesthetic.

My consent form said "plus proceed". This means they'll treat what they find while they're in there if they can; it also gives your permission for them to do that. Ask your consultant if that wasn't discussed.

Is that the sort of thing you needed to know?

Thanks anroga and abzs - I'm having general as having all 3 together. Was meant to have dye test about 2mths ago but said no point having me in twice as camera needs to be a general

Was told my shoulder will hurt from gas/bloating etc

I hope they do find something so can then treat it there and then and hopefully then get preg iyswim

Rather then find nothing so back to square one

And yes I googled and gave the link to dp to read

www.fertility-info.co.uk/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=vuueeBqNrDw%3D&..

Never good to google as I found out after googling dragon butter years ago Grin but we still do it

Did they find anything and did you then get preg afterwards. Thanks

For me, the planned cystectomy and the clearing of the endometriosis they found did the trick. I had the op in early june, pg in october. DS is 12 weeks old. Hope you have the same good fortune.

I had them done under GA, after ttc for almost a year.

No ill effects, went home within 2 hours and felt perfectly normal and able to go to work the following day.

They found nothing wrong and I was pregnant by next cycle (my gynae told me I probably would be within 3 months).

I had this done and was fine afterwards. I did get a bit of shoulder pain later in the evening but a couple of paracetamol sorted it out and i am known for being a bit of a whinger!

I got pregnant with Ds the following cycle even though they didnt find anything causing fertility issuesConfused

I have just been booked in for a laparoscopy as I have really bad scarring from an EMCS with my DD. Just wondering if anybody else has had this and did they then get pregnant? Xx

Sorry to hear that daisy, are you having icsi? How was the procedure? Did you find it painful? X

I had this. I stayed in hospital overnight and to be honest I felt dreadful. The pain in my shoulders was unbelievable. I was awake most of the night trying to find a comfortable position and begging for stronger painkillers. A nurse suggested I get up and go and freshen up then I'd feel better. I wanted to slap her!! It did eventually pass once the gas worked its way out and we now have DD so all worth it.

Hi Tilly not good news for me - lap didn't make any difference to the monthly pain or lack of being pg and am now on new painkillers. In meantime they've put me on clomid - this is my first cycle in it so waiting to see what happens....
