I'm seeing the GP in an hour about TTC - please can you help me with questions to ask?

I've been meaning to look into this all weekend, but I think I've been burying my head in the sand a bit but I need to ask for your help.

TTC for almost 2 years, 2 x MC. One 18 months ago, one 6 months ago. I'm a few months off 35 and I feel it's time to speak to my GP again (She fobbed me off a bit last time - just kept saying to keep trying and be patient).

What sort of things should I ask her? Is there anything that I should expect to happen in this situation - any investigation/blood tests etc? What medication if any might she suggest?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi

I've recently been referred to the fertility clinic. My gp was also a bit dismissive because I already have one child but I insisted that after 10 months of ttc dc2 I knew in my gut something wasn't right. Also I am 37 and felt I'd relaxed and let nature take its course long enough.

They will probably start with blood tests to check ovulation. Then test your partner/refer you.

Only advice I can give is be firm!

Ask to be referred onto your fertility clinic.

Ahead of that, your gp should ask for some day 2&21 bloods, and may order a sperm analysis for your dp. The results should go straight to the clinic.

The sooner you can get seen by the clinic the better.

Good luck.

My advice would be to get very basic tests done by the gp, but be firm that you want to be referred ASAP to the clinic. Also, be clear to the gp about whether you wish to be referred as a private patient or Nhs as this can make a huge difference to waiting times.

Thanks all for the advice. I'm having blood tests at day 2 and 25 (long cycle), and will go from there. DP is also getting tested.

I have just posted an identical thread in Conception :)

I am also having a day 21 test, my husband is having sperm tests and because I have stage 4 endo I am being referred to a clinic for another laparoscopy.

BUT!!! The cut off age for fertility treatment is 35 so if you are only z few months off get a referral as soon as you have your test results, once you are too old they will not refer of treat you. I thought it was 37 but it's actually 35. Don't delay.

Good luck with the tests :)

My test is also day 25. I have a 32 day cycle.
