Hi ladies I have just joined this site as been ttc for around 18 months now. I was diagnoised with pcos around a year ago and now on clomid. Ive just finished taking the first months worth and we are going on our honeymoon on saturday and im ov while we are away so fingers crossed. Just wondered if there is anyone else in the same situation really and any success storys would be great xx

Hi there, I have PCOS, I conceived on Metformin and Clomid, and only had to take one round! Living proof it does work. The Clomid did make me a bit of an emotional wreck on the days I had to take it, but obviously it's worth the result. Also, as soon as I got pregnant, my abnormal PCOS hormones 'normalised' and I lost half a stone - added bonus!

Good luck with your own journey, keep us posted!

Thanks. Ive also been on metformin since being diagnoised with pcos. Im kind of hoping it will work with the clomid. Does it have high success rates also what are the side effects do you know ? Xx

Hi Stephy,

Congrats on your marriage!

I also have PCOS and am on my third round of clomid, I didn't ovulate either of the first two times though I did produce a mature follicle on the second cycle so if same happens again this month I'll get a jab that will hopefully boost ovulation.

The side effects vary but the main ones seem to be high emotions and hot flushes. Tbh I haven't had any terrible side effects, nothing that a normal woman probably wouldn't get in the course of a monthly cycle anyway (i.e. hormonal days!)

Success rate - 75-80% (depends whose literature you read) ovulate on clomid and of those 40% get pregnant. Of course there are a lot of other factors playing into sucess rate - your weight, your partner's sperm, your age, your diet, and of course a heck of a lot of luck. It's great that you'll be on honeymoon during your first cycle as that will help keep you relaxed.

There's a dedicated clomid thread on the Conception board if you want to join, if not, the any other questions you have, just shout.

Sounds positive Stephy. Fingers crossed for you. I have a 4 month old DD, conceived on clomid & metformin. It took a while for us to get the dose right, so I think it was about my 5th cycle I conceived on (though I didn't ovulate every clomid cycle). Good luck!
