Hi all have finally decided to join after googling clomid and reading lots of posts.
I'm 31 and been trying for a little bambino for 13 months.
In June I had ovarian drilling with no luck of conceiving and currently in my first month of clomid @ 50mcg.
(sorry I've yet to learn the abbreviations)
I'm day 22 and I feel so emotional and so tired ( I'm not pregnant as stupid me tested the other day, why I don't know) I can't help but feel maybe I'll never be a mum.
I know it's only 13 months and first cycle of clomid but ooooooooo I don't know.

Sorry to be so down be nice of some positives stories or any helpful tips that others have.
Also I'm not being monitored at all whilst on clomid. Is this normal?

Baby dust to you all
Xxx

Who prescribed the clomid and what do you think of your treatment to date?.

Do you have a diagnosis of the fertility problem?.

You should be monitored whilst on clomid as it is quite powerful stuff (you should be having regular ultrasounds and bloodtests as clomid can also affect hormone levels markedly). Also if you are not monitored you have no way of knowing whether its doing what its supposed to be doing. Clomid's job is to make the ovaries work harder.

Why did they do the ovarian diathermy initially; I ask this as clomid is often used as the first line of treatment

Getting teary is quite normal, i have had several umprompted daft crying fits while on clomid. I am on my fourth cycle with it and this is our 19th month trying for our first. As for being monitored, it is recommended that you are monitored as you run the risk of producing more mature follicles which they dont like to happen (my second clomid cycle i had 7!! mature follicles so was told to abandon that cycle) (apparently anything over 4 follicles and they will abandon) They usually check the follicles with a transvaginal scan. If you not being monitored then i cant see how they will know if you are producing any follicles and how many and their size etc. Clomid can also thin the womb lining - again this has to be check. I would ask them if you can monitored for future cycles. Having said that, i have seen quite a few women have unmonitored clomid cycles. A good source of information is fertilityfriend.com

Hello,

I agree with the others that you should be monitored - at the very least blood tests, since it's too late for an ultrasound in this cycle. You have to push for this otherwise there's no way to know whether it's working and also no way to know when you should start taking your next round of tablets (or you could be waiting for your period to start forever?!)

Being teary is also normal - I'm on day 20 of my second cycle and have had lots of teary moments, sometimes happy ones (!) - if the clomid is working then your hormones will be all over the place.

Also, don't get yourself down about a negative pregnancy test, even if the clomid has worked this month day 22 is much too early to get a positive, and if it hasn't worked, then it might well be the case that you need a higher dose.

I don't know yet whether I've ovulated this cycle but even if I haven't, my ultrasound showed a much stronger response to 100mg than to 50mg, so it does make a difference.

I would speak to your gynaecologist/fertility clinic and ask why they're not monitoring you.

Hi all sorry had manic few days at work so
Haven't managed to reply.

My consultant prescribed clomid as I'm
Not ovulating every month. Had ovarian drilling in June and bloods then that showed a problem with my hormone level and scans showed I have PCOS and my left ovary wasn't working at all.

I think I have ovulated 2 days ago as I woke with sore breast and that's usually a sign for me which is like day 23 of my cycle. Am now day 26.
I'm going to contact my consultant today as alot of people are saying that 3 month review is too long to wait and should be monitored regularly.
