Talk to me about ovulation induction

Backstory:

DH and I (him 36, me 31) decided to start TTC in spring 2010. I came off the pill and promptly failed to have a period. After 6 months my GP referred me on for tests which revealed PCOS and was referred to a fertility specialist.

An HSG suggested possible blocked tubes but a laparoscopy showed this to be false. I was then prescribed 6 months of Clomid, monitored with blood tests but not scans. My 6 months were up last month and my consultant has decided that the Clomid hasn't worked well enough to continue. I ovulated in 4 of the 6 months but varied between days 14 and 29.

My consultant has said that the next step is to try ovulation induction - daily injections of FSH coupled with scans.

I'll be honest, I've not taken the whole TTC lark well. There have been lots of tears and at times I've felt in an utter black pit of despair. So what I'm asking, after all that rambling, is for people to come and talk to me about their experiences with OI. I guess I feel if that if I arm myself with as much information as possible I will be able to deal with my difficult journey a little better.

I'm on the TTC journey but much earlier than you so I'm just bumping in the hope you get your answers from people in the know.

Why don't you come and join us on this thread...

TTC Super Ovulation part 2

We are all on various forms of SO, or OI as you referred to it. It is an off shoot from another thread so we are all being treated by the same consultant as we are all seeing him for treatment for recurrent miscarriages, but others are very welcome and it's a good place to share experiences and knowledge.

Don't be frightened by the idea of the injections, once you get over the idea they actually don't hurt in the slightest. Especially if you can get the pen type rather than the vials. The cheapest place I've found to buy them so far is Central Homecare (don't know if you're NHS or Private).

I had 4 round of OI as I have pcos too. It isn't to bad tbh once you deal with the injections and constant probing in certain lady areas hehe Smile I got pregnant on my 4th go but it sadly ended in miscarriage and so now I'm on the IVF train (1 failed cycle waiting to start the 2nd)

Keep positive I know it's hard! But I figure we're all going to get there in the end... Eventually...

Hi there

I'm almost at the same stage as you - just cancelled round 5 of clomid due to no ovulation, and my history is very similar to yours - no periods after coming off the pill, only 1 ovulation out of 5 cycles on clomid. I'm on the TTC 10 months thread but may join you on the super ovulation thread in a month or so! No advice, just sympathies to offer. It's bloody hard.
