Come talk to me about TTC#2 please?

Let me start by saying I have never posted on this topic before so sorry if I don't know the correct abbreviations or anything but I really need some advice and I just want to say I know I am lucky to have one child as I know lots of people aren?t that lucky.

I am a regular on here but have name changed as I have colleagues, family and friends that know me on here.

I have been TTC#2 for 3 years this month, It?s been such a rollercoaster of a few highs and many many lows and lots of frustrations but I have got to the point of feeling as if there is no hope!
My dp and I have been together 9 years we have a gorgeous DS who is 6.5 and have been trying for an other DC for 3 years now, my DS wasn't planned but very very much wanted so to be honest it hadn?t crossed my mind that it would take a while to conceive this time.
My partner works away so only spends an average of 2-3 nights a week at home so obviously that is our only chance of trying every week but he does have occasions where he is at home for a few months at a time, holidays etc and there are times where we go with him (not as often since my DS started school) so I really don?t know if it?s the lack of trying at correct times or something else.
I don?t even know what I am asking, so feel free to offer advice, tell me your stories or just tell me to get a grip!

Sorry for the pointless ramblings and thanks in advance if anybody answers.

I've been TTC #2 (#1 for DH) for 2 and half years now. I have a 6.5 year old DS too.
Like you I know I'm very lucky to have a child already but very much want to have a baby with my DH.

Have you been to your GP and asked for investigations?

I went after just over a year of no success. I've had blood tests, ultrasound, HSG and a couple of weeks ago a Lap and Dye to fix a blocked left tube and to treat endometriosis.

Head over to the Hut in this topic if you want, we're long term TTC'ers on there with a variety of fertility issues and it's a great place for support. We're a mixture of first timers and some TTC 2.

If you feel up to it then you really should go to your GP and ask to be referred.
Different areas operate differently though and it may be that your GP will order blood tests before you are referred. Mine didn't, but he did order DH's sperm analysis to be done while we were waiting for the Consultant appt to come through.
We're dead friendly in the Hut and it's not a thread that moves too quickly to keep up with.
Just pop in and say hi, but don't feel the need to post regulalry if you don't want to. We have a few lurkers who pop on for sporadic updates or just to say hello and see how we all are.

I would agree with Queen here; seek a referral particularly as you've now been ttc for 3 years.

Secondary subfertility is a problem that is more common than people realise. Either one or equally both of you may be contributing to the subfertility here so both of you should be tested in tandem to see where the problems lie.

GP may or may not decide to do tests for both of you beforehand; such tests are always repeated at the hospital anyway.

Hi,
I think your GP will take you seriously after 3 years, so I'd say go Smile

DH and I have been TTC#2 for 2.2 years now. We have a 3.2 yr old DD.

We first went to the GP after 1 year. He said come back in 6 months. We went back after about 9 months (so 21 months total ttc) and he was very happy to refer us to gynae consulatant.

We have had 2 x sperm tests, 3 x blood tests for me, an internal ultrasound scan for me and a HSG xray for me. All the tests were done within 2 months of our referral, which we thought was excellent!

They can't find anything wrong though! Hmm so we are on 4 months clomid just to see.

It's awful having problems ttc#2 isn't it? - because you know you are so lucky to have your first, but you really want a sibling for them. I wish you luck and hope you get some answers (or a BFP) very soon x
