I think people have been advised to book into hotels as they won't be able to travel today. Its going to be chaos.

Just for your info...I was able to take a train on the London network that left from Waterloo (I got on later down the line but it definitely came from waterloo) so it seems those who take trains from waterloo may well be OK (just check before you go)

We're within 20 mins walking distance of the City, so if anyone is stuck and needs to stay over, just post and ask.

I would like to be at home now but would need a train from Kings Cross . My car is in Hatfield, and I live in Bedfordshire.

I work in Baker Street.

Be interested to know if anyone can think of a route to East London that avoids the City!

have just checked for my dh and trains are still running normally from london waterloo (south west trains)

if you click on this link and find your station on the live departures bit (or look at london waterloo), you'll be able to see they are still up and running though very delayed

train departures from waterloo

GoN, does the Jubilee Line go through the City?

Also, the riverboats are all apparently providing free service at the moment.

Thanks SM. Dh could walk to Victoria and get home from there if necessary (I think) if trains are running that is.

Is anyone actually leaving now or should we be waiting to hear if it's safe?

Report
PiccadillyCircus · 07/07/2005 12:53

I want to leave ASAP but obviously not if it isn't safe.

Wish I knew what to do.

Dh is in Bloomsbury, right between Russell Square and Tavistock Place. He is okay, but has been told to stay where he is atm. It is walking distance (just about) so he'll be able to get home once they're allowed to.

My offer is still open -- if anyone needs a bed for the night in Islington/City borders, let me know. We are walkable from the City, or even from WC1/WC2 at a push

Frogs - my DH is stuck by The British Library. If he can't get anywhere or sort something out can I contact you? Thanks for your email btw - time taken up with DH at the moment but will reply soon.
