Well done Kelly Holmes

I am ecstatic with joy for Kelly Holmes. In previous championships, she has always had some form of injury which has prevented her from reaching her true potential. She has always been championship material as her performance in Sydney 2000 and the recent European championships showed. This time, she was injury free and ran like the champion that she is. The head to head with Mutola was breathtaking and I'm so delighted that KH won through.

Three cheers for KH.

I am so happy for her - she really deserves this win. Dh and I have just been blubbing on the sofa watching the race! I hope she goes on and wins the 1500m too.

It was an amazing race. I used to run 800m and 1500m when at school and Uni (to old and wobbly these days) and it was fabby, just out of this world. I truly thought she had left it too late to come through form the back, and I'm soooooo glad she won.

Dd1 watched it with me just before bed and wants to play 'ladies recing and jumping' tomorrow!

I'm with you there, she has worked her guts out, brought tears to my eyes watching how much she wanted it at any cost.
And that US guy Jeremy Wariner in the 400m, superb, although as an aside I am sure he is the kind of guy that rides around a big expensive car, with stereo on full tilt, he "looks" like a poser, but by crikey who cares when he can run like that.. Reckon he will take MJ's record in the near future!!!

"In previous championships, she has always had some form of injury which has prevented her from reaching her true potential" Rubbish. Clearly she didn't feel she was a medal contender and therefore didn't try hard enough.
