You can imagine it might be an attempt by opponents to discredit them.

Vile if so.

I hope it is indeed a fake, it would be a gruesome, horrible assault on human rights.

It's been denied by ISIS and there is evidence that it is a fake:

So are ISIS saying they don't support it - nope. They treat women like sh@t, they like to crucify and behead anyone that doesn't think exactly like them. They are barbaric idiots.

"So are ISIS saying they don't support it - nope"

Are you sure?

I hold no brief for ISIS, but it does rather look like fake propaganda by one of their enemies, intended to make them (even) more feared and less popular. In which case we would do better to reserve our indignation for people who really do support this awful practice.

No, that is the thing isn't it....they are too psycho to engage in a proper converstaion. This morning an australian member was pictured holding up two heads. Would you have a reasonable converstaion/debate with them? They reportedly shot little girls in a bathroom for being christian last week (Ninevah). Any extremists of any religion or culture are at best pains in the @rse. At worst, yes FGM is small beer and totally fitting with their agenda to reduce women to the status of nothing.
I well appreciate the power of propoganda (it was used effectively and often wrongly in Northern Ireland for years). That said social media has meant that we get an insight into the actions of various extremists without filter.

Seriously, any man guilty of FGM, I would cut off their todgers! Presumably the same people believe in an eye for an eye?

correction, what am I doing???....mispelling above of 'conversation'

the truth of the matter should be more than enough.

There's no benefit in diluting it with fakery.

Agree with PigletJohn here, and would add that it would also be better to be indignant about the Christians who've been forced from their homes on pain of death or paying protection money to ISIS. This is a community that has lived in Mosul for 1600 years but now they have been wiped out.

What PigletJohn said. Isis are quite bad enough, without quotes of dubious veracity.

They like to boast about their actions, so why are they denying this? And how the heck would they enforce it? Mosul has almost 2 million people and Isis have a (military) force of 10,000, according to them. It's not going to have cultural support because it's not practiced in that area of Iraq (I don't know if it happens in other areas) and I think they're going to find it difficult enough keeping and defending the area without spending time checking people's fannies for compliance.

I'm suspicious of some of the pics coming out of there but usually it's Isis boasting - they don't have any problems with claiming responsibility for all the most gruesome things possible, whether true or not, so why would they be all shy about this? It doesn't seem to make sense.

The truth of what ISIS are getting up to is complex (e.g they are playing very different roles in Iraq and Syria) and terrible enough without making up stories about them.

Report
bkgirl · 25/07/2014 19:08

Unfortunately, time will tell. I wouldn't want to be a woman governed by ISIS.
