One of them is Graham Phillips, a reporter I've seen on RT, France24 and heard on BBC radio. Back in May he had a $10000 bounty on his head, but stayed because he lives there. He went to watch the world cup in Brazil, to support England then went back home to report on the situation.

Btw, the reason I used an RT link is the other one on the front page for "Graham Phillips, journalist" was a DM link and I have Tea & Kittens so can't view it. I'm not sure why I started this thread, I just hope he's safe.

Oh good lord, didn't see this when you first posted. Hope against hope they are OK and have been freed by now, or will be soon.

He has been released. Deported from Ukraine for 3 years.

Thank heavens. Awful for him to be expelled from his home but at least he's safe.

He is British, works for Russia Today. He was held once before and released, if I remember rightly. It is very dangerous over there for journalists on all sides, because it is a real war and each side can often see them as spies reporting back to the other side. Some journalists and photographers have already been killed over there.

Respect to the journalists who put themselves in such danger.

YY. Although working for Russia Today is not great.

First time I went out after ds was born was to a Women in Journalism seminar with Marie Colvin and other war reporters. She lost her life trying to tell the world about Syria. Incredibly brave and determined woman, such a loss.

Yes, Marie Colvin was very brave. It was a tragedy what happened to her. We sometimes forget how brave our reporters are. They are in the midst of real warzones.

RT always describe Graham as a 'stringer', so he's a freelance journalist not affiliated to any one channel. I'm so chuffed he's been released. I have nothing but respect for any journalist, including photo-journalist/camera operators who do this increasingly dangerous job.

How do you tell the difference between "kidnapped" "arrested" and "held hostage?"

Was a ransom demanded?
