PedlarsSpanner has very kindly pointed out to me that you have a very personal reason for making these posts. And I apologise very sincerely if my post has hurt you.

But I had no idea that you were personally affected - which is why I also asked what the point of your threads/posts were.

I'm sorry that I posted something so insensitive to your own situation.

I knew this Beaaware, I remember reading about it some time ago. I dont know, do you think it is a ticking time bomb and more people are going to be affected?

I also think about you when I see things like this, what can we do though to prevent it? Apart from the obvious.

Beaaware, it would be really welcomed if you could discuss this on here, as I`m sure many people would like discussion, but know very little on this, I get the feeling you have some knowledge.

If anyone is oblivious to this terrible disease look up this website and read the hundreds of posts made by families who have lost loved ones:

am still in shock that after 8 years Pete Waterman has only just revealed on TV tonight that his son died from 'Mad Cow Disease'

Beaaware, Ive just looked at the guestbook, so many families affected, its truly heartbreaking.

Thank you for the link, I am going to set aside some time tomorrow to read through properly.

Flowers for you, it must be a living hell, not being able to get answers, to not be listened to. I truly hope that you and all the other families eventually get some answers x

My friends father died from this. There was a lot in the press about it at the time, but it really seems to have gone of the 'radar' since.
He was a fireman. Horrible horrible illness.

If anyone would like to know more about vCJD (Human Mad Cow Disease) I can thoroughly recommend this book which is only available on Amazon e-books and is receiving rave reviews:

'Who Killed My Son - By Christine Lord'

Pete Waterman talking about his son's death is here for the next few days (from about 30 minutes). He does only list a few possibilities rather than saying it was definitely CJD though.

And I have found the Edinburgh CJD research team's work interesting. This includes the reported incidences for the UK here

If there was more public pressure about this more funding would go into treatment and the possible development of a vaccine. It is a terrifying disease and there is simply not enough research going on.

6 years ago a vaccine was being developed and had demonstrated success in animal trials but no news of it since then : news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6619457.stm

See this link which is 5 years old, this is a filter which has been developed by Macopharma to remove vCJD prions from blood see link:
www.macopharma.com/en/reliable-solution-to-vcjd-blood-fears-is-ready-now/

I understand that this is not in use in the UK but correct me if I am wrong.
