Hope I haven't missed an existing thread on this (I did check). Just seen on twitter that the blonde girl from Ireland, removed from her Roma parents. DNA tests have proved she was their daughter. How horrific Sad

How awful for that family. I knew some busy body would jump on the band wagon and that's what has happened here.

I read a great blog post earlier talking about the sheer racism that is taking place here. Will see if I can find it.

I am saying this as an Irish woman living in Ireland.

Fuckin stupid irish cops, what fuckin tipped them off in the first place? Suffering Christ, typical idiotic muck savages, trying to prove they're just as good as the neighbours. For fuck sake. I fuckin knew this was how this was going to turn out.

Horrendous story

This is fucking ridiculous, and disgraceful! Did they base it purely on the fact that she was blonde haired and blue eyed and the rest of the family is not? Although because they were Roma as well, as I understand? Christ almighty! DD1 is blonde haired and blue eyed whilst DSD and dd2 are both dark haired as is DH, and I have dark hair too. So on the surface she looks nothing like the rest of us. Except that my hair is dyed and is naturally blonde too. Halloween Hmm

That poor girl will be so fucking traumatised now. Haloween Sad Do they have the ability to sue? Because if it was me I'd be suing their fucking arses off! Halloween Angry

That is so embarrassing. Somebody lost the run of themselves and reported a roma family for having a fair child. They would never have done that if the family had been Irish.

Still though, not the fault of the gardaí they acted responsibly I think. Just locals with long beaks.

I just feel so sorry for the poor child. The guardian article makes it sound like even more of a fiasco.

I have one blonde one myself who sticks out like a sore thumb amongst her several dark siblings. But since we're not Roma, I guess it won't be a problem for us Hmm

In defence of the gardai, the birth date they gave for her, did not match any birth records for birth dates of girls born in the coombe that day. So either they got their own daughter's birthdate wrong, or they got the hospital wrong! The gardai wouldn't have taken the child if the coombe had had a record of a baby girl by that name born on that day.

So, incompetent gardai? or interviewees that can't accurately tell the gardai what date & hospital their dd was born at !!!

Something odd! they didn't just take her because she was fair.

It was on the news at 1 (RTE 1) that actually an Independent check with the hospital proved that the Roma mother did give birth to a female child on the date specified.

The poor family. Once again we make ourselves look like a bunch of backwards yokels!
