making money from PPI calls - genuis idea!

Did anyone see the news story about a man who is making money from spam phone calls because he set up his own premium phone line that people have to call?

i thought it was a great idea. so now, anyone who rings about PPI or anything like that will get charged 10p a minute - and he keeps them talking! so far he's made £300 from it.

Apparently it's quite easy to set up your own premium number in your home, although there may be some regulations to meet.

Either way, if you've got the time then it sounds worth it.

Yes, he was on breakfast tv today. It was something cheap like a tenner to set it up IIRC. Very clever idea.

But the bloody regulator was moaning that it "isn't a proper use of the premium lines and they don't condone it" - pity they're not so hot on cracking down on the bloody companies that are cold calling....

it will be interesting to see if anyone else follows his lead and if it will result in a change in industry regs - i have enough to deal with without cold calls!

It reminds me of the guy who got a taxi licence so he could drive in the bus and taxi lanes and avoid the traffic. He did take passengers if he was stopped, but mostly he had his light off.
