ooh yeah saw this in the Standard tonight and thought of Justine. He was described as 'husband of the dead clever founder of MN' or some such, which made me grin. So rare that someone is described as 'husband of somebody important' rather than 'wife of someone important'.

Bit of a challenging job, though, I see Newsnight has had to apologise again over a report wrongly accusing a forces charity of skulduggery...

I'm sure he'll fit in nicely alongside former Guardian journalist Allegra Stratton and ex-Trotskyite Paul Mason.

Oh good, perhaps the beeb will stop being a mouthpiece for the tories and we can have some balanced news for a change. I've been on Channel four news for months.

Yes, I spotted this yesterday. Didn't see "husband of Justine" though when I googled but their new kitchen extension looks very nice Grin

So now more important than ever for Mumsnet to speak truth to power.

Edam - I do hope he wasn't described as "the husband of the dead clever founder of MN".

Well done Ian!

Two pieces of advice: (1) Do your research (2) Don't make Paxman read the weather.

Wow this is fabulous.

Well done Smile

I have just google imaged him and he is like a far better looking Jeremy Paxman, in some of them...impressive nose as well.

I like him already.

Well, at least Justine won't be invited on to NN to be subjected to Will Self wittering on in long words again.

Ha yes - on the bright side am definitely off the Newsnight hook now. I shall onpass comments about his nose/farts Grin.

More lefties at the bbc, how original.

What d'you think it'll be like when the Guardian finally goes under? Every single person will just be rehired by Auntie. We'll be able to rename the BBC the GBC.

I wrote to Ian Katz once, possibly a million years ago, about an article he had written in the Guardian about Israel. He wrote back a very gracious and informative reply.

Bloody good journalist.

No one accuses Radio 5-Live of being Left wing.

I like Channel 4 news. They stick up for people at the bottom of the pile.

Justine-please ask him to make Newsnight serious again (and get rid of Paxman-well past his sell-by).
Thanks!
