Looks like Republic is going into administration tomorrow - 120 shops could go. 1,000 jobs at risk. I feel so bad for the people who work there :(

Awful for the staff but it's a terrible store. They have no real direction, like they're not sure what they're selling. Half of it is sporty/urban hoodies and stuff, then in a little corner girly lacey dresses? Really badly thought out.

As sad as it is to see more high street shops close down, if you're going to charge high prices for poor quality and not have a strong brand behind you, you can't expect to stay afloat.

I found their stuff washed really well & wasn't that high a price.

It's saddening that so may retailers are going into liquidation. I feel it goes under the radar somewhat. Retail is a female oriented environment, from head office to stores and store support. It's flexible work that can be used to support family life.

When car plants and factories are closed and moved to other countries there is uproar, protests and striking. This never seems to happen in retail.

I've worked in retail head office for 20 years now, sailing close to the wind in every company, it's so easy to follow a fabulous year with an absolutely awful one.
