I can see it's a dummy.....but the 2nd time the snatching is shown....RIGHT before the talons touch the toddler..he seems to duck slightly...or is it my imagination?

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange Thu 20-Dec-12 03:32:35

I live in Canada and it is not news here. It's a fake.

Narked Wed 19-Dec-12 14:10:24

FAKE

JustFabulous Wed 19-Dec-12 14:08:04

Not real.

CGI affects.

" However, the lifelike sequence was today claimed to be an elaborate CGI hoax."

Piffpaffpoff Wed 19-Dec-12 14:04:03

I think it's not a real toddler, the real one is in the buggy, and the swap is made while the camera is pointing at the ground. I also think I need to get out more

Saltycopporn Wed 19-Dec-12 13:39:12

Fake! I'm wondering how many of you would run to help without throwing down the camera first? If it were genuine I think the camera would have ended up on the grass pointing at the sky. The bird seemed to be flying in a style suited to display rather than hunting. It would never catch genuine prey like that.

the toddler probably had a chunk of meat on its head,
how else do they train eagles?

AlienRefucksLooksLikeSnow Wed 19-Dec-12 12:00:41

Awwwwww, is it a fake? Doesn't surprise me.

cornycarrotshack Wed 19-Dec-12 11:52:59

I would have said fake as well. Birds aren't that stupid.

flatpackhamster Wed 19-Dec-12 11:52:35

slartybartfast

no fake as in a trained bird

You think there are a lot of tame golden eagles trained to take toddlers from parks?

Its fake. The child doesnt fall immediately after the eagle lets go.

exexpat Wed 19-Dec-12 11:49:03

Lots of people who posted this on twitter this morning have been apologising and saying it's been exposed as a fake.

AlienRefucksLooksLikeSnow Wed 19-Dec-12 11:41:31

That is frigging AMAZING!! he was obviously too heavy, or it would have carried him off! shock

Yes, the Mum/Dad seems to take ages to notice?!!

slug Wed 19-Dec-12 11:37:10

The best comment I've heard about this was:

"This all could have been averted if the baby had its own eagle."

Which is both horrible and amusing in equal measures

no fake as in a trained bird

I cant see how they'd fake it? it's definitely a real bird, and a real child.

flowerytaleofNewYork Wed 19-Dec-12 11:07:08

I believe it, looks real to me. They take foxes, young deer, lambs, all sorts, equal to their own weight so I totally believe he had a bash at taking a toddler.

Piffpaffpoff Wed 19-Dec-12 11:02:00

I say fake.

PurpleTinsel Wed 19-Dec-12 10:56:44

shock

Lucky he was too heavy to be carried further!

SweetMingePie Wed 19-Dec-12 10:56:13

Wow!

If you watch the video towards the end it is slowed right down and you can see the baby being snatched and then dropped by the bird.

TheseGoToEleven Wed 19-Dec-12 10:55:26

I believe it, I have known of eagles that snatched dogs.

peeriebear Wed 19-Dec-12 10:52:00

He's lucky because he was too heavy to be carried any higher than about two feet before being dropped!
He will dine out on that story when he's older. "I was THAT kid!"

Iheartpasties Wed 19-Dec-12 10:51:32

surely its not real??
