Changes to maternity leave

Did anyone hear the interview with Nick Clegg on R4 this morning? The government are introducing shared parental leave from 2015 which will replace maternity and paternity pay in an effort to reduce the gender pay gap. My first thought was that it is a good measure but I'm not sure how many men will actually do this. What do you think?

More pressure on small businesses I thought. He talked about women going back to "work on a project" and then going back on maternity leave afterwards, with DH/DP filling in the gaps. I think it shows more about his world really.
I went back to work when DC3 was 7 weeks old and DH stayed at home with him, but it wouldn't have worked for me to chop and change.
