Ooooh - hadn't heard about the maid.

What I did hear (yesterday?) was a Palace announcement that it wasn't Dotty-the-child-biter which attacked the Queen's corgi. I thought that was very suspect. Yes, it sounds as if they both should be put down - or else permanently muzzled.

let Prince Philip dispatch them with a pistol.

JanH, thats right it wasn't Dottie, it was Florence, which is causing much mirth in my household and this is DD1's name

I agree though Harman, anyone else would have the police involved and the dog destroyed.

I too think it's dodgy to wait a few days before announcing it was not Dotty! Why not just muzzle them at all times when they're in public?

That wouldn't have helped that poor maid though

no, i suppose not Well, surely they could be in a safe area away from people, (large kennels outside and muzzled when out) or the only other option is to put them down! I too don't think there'd be any hesitation if it was some Jo Bloggs down the road!!

It's a bit convenient that it was allegedly another dog don't you think?

Exactly, Lou. If it really was Dotty, they just couldn't put her down for biting the dog when they hadn't put her down for biting the children - terrible PR.

Which one is supposed to have bitten the maid?

BBC report now says "it was erroneously reported" that it was Dotty - but why did they wait so long before correcting the error?

Deeply, deeply suspect.

Anyway Florence will obviously have to go now, having done it twice. Sorry, pie!

Well I love my dog to bits, she is one of the most precious things in my life, as was her predecessor. I'm the one that bawls at Emergency vets (DH banned me from watching, ha, on maternity leave, can't stop me now!), has to be restrained from adopting every potential stray and sponsors guide dogs etc - and I'd put it down in a second. Dogs that bite should be destroyed before they kill

I agree, but it really makes me angry that people who is not capable to handle dangerous breeds have them as lap dogs just because of their looks, and then things happen...

I suspect that when hunting is banned they'll just release housemaids into the grounds and go after them with bull terriers. Just getting some practise in early.

Why doesn't she ger a red setter or something far less dangerous and yeh about a year ago a dog was put down for attacking a child badly? Bloomin royal royalties
