Such a shame to mar the Queen's celebrations. I hope it is just a precaution because of his advancing age and isn't because he stood on the river yesterday...

Oh no! Poor man. Standing on that barge for all that time in the cold and rain can't have been much fun with a bladder infection.

Hope he gets better soon. Crown

Mind you if he needs his rest he's probably better off in hospital rather than at Buck House with 'all that racket' going on outside!

My father nealry died of a bladder infection this year, so yes paramedics are a good thing.

Maybe they didn't realise it was only a bladder infection? Perhaps he was saying he had pains or felt hot and being 91 they aren't going to take any chances with him. Especially not after his long day in the rain yesterday.

Our elderly neighbour was carted off in an ambulance with a bladder infection and never came home. Septicemia.

Bladder infections can be serious in the elderly and can make them very unwell, very quickly so maybe paramedics were necessary?

My grandad died after a bladder infection at the age of 86 so yes, I think calling paramedics was the appropriate thing to do.

Hope he gets well soon.

yes, well rain is well-known for causing death isn't it?

sorry, but at least 2 people I knoiw have been told that an ambulance won't come out becuase they were not in a "life threatening" situation and that they should make their own way to hospital.
one was a man with a wife who can't drive, and who was in such agony he couldn't get up off the floor

But of course, rich people are far more important and thus deserve to have an ambulance in situations where others are turned away. I forgot.

I guess beignt he Royal Family there is simply no way they could have just got their own private doctor in, or taken him to hospital. how silly of me

i'm sure bladder infections can be serious.
but I am also sure they could have taken him to hospital themselves like everyone else has to

Yes, paramedics! Why is that do hard to believe??

susiedaisy · 04/06/2012 18:19

Probably hadn't drunk much so he could stand on that boat for hours, doesn't take much with the elderly unfortunately.

Everyone else doesn't have to when they are 91!!!

That are that age group supposed to do then?

fivegomadindorset · 04/06/2012 18:21

Well perhaps you should take this up with your local MP. How about all those stupid drunken wankers who get carted off to hospitals?

Report
scaredycat12 · 04/06/2012 18:22

What would you have them do thisisyesterday? Sit in A&E at their local hospital?

Oh FFS, I am no monarchist but the duke is 91 and he happens to be the spouse of our head of state, of course they called an ambulance.

I've had enough of all the jubilee crap, but I thought the queen & duke did incredibly well to stand through yesterday's long event & keep smiling all day. Whatever you think of the royal family, they are very elderly and they have a tough schedule for a couple their age. I think it's quite sad that this has happened to marr the queen's celebrations this weekend.

scaredy.. i would have them treated like anyone else would be!

if he has been taken to a private hospital then they could have driven him there couldn't they?

i am fairly sure they have enough money to have got any doctor they like out to the palace, and transport to any hospital he wanted to go to.

Actually they can pay for private healthcare from their own wealth. So should not be using NHS anything...including Ambulances
