Sperm ships will aparently anchor offshore for europeans who's countries don't allow the kind of fertility treatments they wantt o havbe them offshore.

It sounds a bit dodgy to me!

Surely there is a reason for some of the fertility procedures not being offered in europe ?!

The bit that worried me was the fact that they had no contingency plans for if things went wrong. The thing is some people are so desperate TTC that they may put themselves in real danger out of desperation.

It might be as simple as the fact that there are few sperm donors here in the UK. The process to be approved as a donor is quite arduous, the payment is insignificant, and now with the loss of annonymity there really are not many upsides unless you are committed to being a donor for personal reasons. Even if a donor gives for strictly altruistic reasons, he is only allowed to father 10 children as a donor - so there are fewer and fewer men around willing/able to do it. It must be impossibly hard for those who require the help of a donor to conceive.
