I know, what an ignorant old moo!

Poor little kid, sounds like she had a horrible home life as well

WTF!!! If she, as was reported, "had psychological and intellectual problems" - how the HELL did she get to be a child minder????

Report
Blu · 16/09/2005 13:09

Defies belief!
You wonder what else went on, at the hands of a 'childminder' with psychological and intellectual problems!'

Here's a link

Iklboo, she wasn't registered (not bloody surprised either!!!)

Horrendous.

I wish they wouldn't use "childminder" when someone isn't registered....they wouldn't use any other professions name in that way

This woman was a babysitter, not a competant, trained professional.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Hopefully, the child is so young she'll have no memory of this.

Katymac - I think that is a good point.

She's obviously not quite the full shilling.

It begs the question of why the little girl's parents chose her as a suitable carer. How do you get to know about "childminders" who aren't registered? I thought all childminders had to be? (Otherwise as Katymac says, they're just babysitters, aren't they?)

The whole story sounds shot through with disturbing facts. Why did the poor little mite refer to herself (alledgedly...or maybe just in the babysiters version, I wonder?) as a little BB? It says she was mixed race - I wonder about her family circumstances...Anyway, it sounds as if Social Services are involved now, so hopefully her little life will get better.

It made me feel really sick, to think of her walking round with that drawn on her forehead - by an adult who was supposed to be caring for her.

And obviously the woman knew it was dodgy or she wouldn't have changed her story so much.

But I do agree she doesn't sound the full shilling. Not by a llong chalk.

What I don't understand is why they let her free... MAdness, she needs to be as thick as a rock not to realise what was she doing...

Report
Blu · 16/09/2005 15:23

I'm not sure I think much would be achieved by putting her in prison, tbh - esp if she is deranged and dopey rather than deliberately cruel or malicious.
Definitely should never be allowed near any children in any capacity.

Uneducated, unprofessional, unregistered and utterly despicable.

I wonder why the media chose to call her a childminder. Was she masquerading as one? Or was she just some woman who looks after kids for a bit cheaper? I can't imaging leaving a child with someone who showed so much contempt for them!

Shocking, truly shocking...

Psychological and intellectual problems? So she was a thick nutter? That was the defence? Please excuse this woman, she is stupid and bonkers? She should have been sent to prison. It is child abuse.

She can't have been that bad (identifiable as unbalanced, I mean) surely no parent would have trusted their child with her if she didn't come across as trustworthy, she must have been able to present herself as capable so they shouldn't get away with now trying to play the pity card.

I am so angry about this that I have a burning feeling in my chest. Think I am going to cry.

That is sickening, a poor little defenceless girl being looked after by someone who clearly hated her, makes you wonder if there was other kinds of abuse going on as well.

Report
waterfalls · 16/09/2005 22:22

Totally disgusting

Report
edam · 16/09/2005 22:27

Particularly disturbing comment from the judge saying this poor little girl had been brought up in a climate of hostility and the minder/sitter had 'continued' the abuse. Wow.

I thought you had to register if you earnt money for looking after children?
