Can anyone reccomend a good musical website for 7 year olds?

Hi all

My ds is 7! He would like to ask you a question.

Do you know of a website that plays music and shows it on the stave at the same time?

ie so that he can listen to a tune and 'see' it being played at the same time

TIA

no but I'd like one also

especially one that could play music on the alto clef

You know it's weird, but I was sure I'd seen a website that did this, but I can't find it at all now and my DS claims to know nothing about it....

I know there's lots of software you can get which will display midi files like that while they play, I can only think I must have had a trial version of one of them.

Surely there must be one - Ds wont mind whether its easy stuff or tricky Beethoven, his apergers brain will be delighted either way

Bump in case anyone else has a genius idea

this link has a free download of a simple version - it's the only free one I've seen. No mention of alto clefs though - but if the midi format includes it, then it might have it anyway.

Ah, now I have more idea what you are after

All the Bach 48 Preludes and Fugues are here - the display only shows you which bar you are in but not which note. If your browser isn't happy with the opening page, click on the little link to index and start listening to the music.

There are lots of music scores on shareware [[http://imslp.org/index.php?title=Main_Page& here] but I don't think there are usually ways of hearing the music as you look at it. Similarly, CPDL the Choral Public Domain library is scores only, I think. Sometimes you can hear a midi, but I don't think it's usually linked to graphics. Mind you, if someone uploaded a score there with noteworthy composer, and you have the noteworthy composer software, you can presumably download it onto your computer and follow along with that.

The noteworthy composer software might be just what you need. You can download for free. If you then go to sample songs, there's a little list of samples using the software, and my memory of it (though I've not used it for 7 or 8 years, which is when I started getting free access to Sibelius software!) is that you get shown which note is being played as you go along. There is also a link to lots of pieces which users have uploaded.

Hope something here helps.

Oh wow! I will go and look at those now

Ds will be thrilled - He asked me today, "Have your friends answered my question yet?"
