Free for all English pupils so worth expressing your interest in online school is an option you've been exploring.

I hope it gets the go ahead - I'm quite keen on it as a second choice for ds3 (possibly as a first having read more about it).

Is that the InterHigh people doing it?

Wouldn't suit us, but I wish them well.

Not for us either as we have found that 2 hours is plenty and don't stick to a timetable.
I just read the FAQ and found a phrase that had me Shock
Children need less hours than school.
I hope the English teachers are better than this.

The Virtual 6th Form College tried to go on the same lines but didn't get off the ground. I'll be surprised if this gets up and running.

The locale the HT lives in doesn't have enough secondary places - I can see this being a cheap and cheerful way for LA's in London to wriggle around this issue, which is becoming more severe each year.

Interhigh certainly seems to have got the LA's onside which helps as they will be funding it.

And surprise surprise Wey Ecademy hasn't been approved!

They're going to resubmit, but...I think the outcome will be the same.

Hi

On August 8th someone who I believe is in touch with the Wey Ecademy people went to check and then said on my FB "The application has been for first review and the people involved are now looking at the recommendations for improvement. It has neither been accepted nor rejected at this point"

Is the "not been approved" message more recent than August 8th?

I'm still of the view expressed earlier in the thread that it'll be a surprise if this gets up and running though!

Yes. I received this message from Wey, August 14th, yesterday.

I am very sorry to have to tell you that our proposal has not been approved in the latest round of assessments by the Department for Education (DfE) despite a huge level of interest in the school. Although the DfE recognise the innovative nature of our school and the strength of our support we were not called for interview to present our case. The department identified three areas that were weaker than other submissions and we have asked to meet and speak with them to understand what gave them concern so that we can address this.

We will re-submit our proposal in October maintaining our target 2015 opening date. One unavoidable consequence however is a delay in opening our formal admissions process; we will keep you updated on this during the autumn term.
