Kitchen help!

We are renovating our house and I thought I had decided on my kitchen months ago...but at the critical time I'm
having a last minute panic and need some help.

Its an edwardian house and the kitchen is quite dark although it's west facing as it's windows open into an old veranda so natural light is limited.

I need to choose cupboard colour, worktops and flooring today or tomorrow as I am holding the process up.

The only definite is that we have a British racing green rangemaster to go in the inglenook and all our small appliances are cream and we don't want to change them. I'm going to have the ikea laxarby wooden kitchen so I can paint it to whichever colour I choose.

Please help I fear our marriage may depend on me making this decision soon!

Also posted in DIY as need as much help as possible.

Well I'd definitely go for a light worktop. One with some speckles in it. Not sure what your options are - are you going for an ikea worktop or do you have options like Corian?

Choose worktop first and then I'd pick a paint colour for the units that is a bit darker version of the worktop.

Flooring - well it depends on your views on cold/durability etc. Personally I like tiles for indestructability but some people find them cold. I'd go for something lightish but with texture in it (ie speckles/markings of some kind). Tiles or karndean that look like wood are a good safe bet.

Have you chosen a style of door?

A fired earth or F and B pale green for some or all doors and cream walls or vice versa.

Warm wood worktop.
